Latin American Workshop on

Environmental and Energy Economics

The Economics Department at Centro de Investigacion y Docencia Economicas (CIDE) will host the “Latin American Environmental and Energy Economics Workshop” on September 25-26, 2015, at the CIDE Aguascalientes campus.

This workshop is part of our ongoing efforts to put our institution at the forefront in the fields of environmental, natural resources, and energy economics. The initiative includes our previous workshop on Environment and Development Economics organized in Mexico City, in October 2013, and the new Masters Program in Environmental Economics recently opened (Fall of 2014).

We want to utilize this opportunity to connect with academicians who have also made valuable contributions to policy making in different countries. Not to mention, the unique platform for exchange and dissemination of ideas on the research frontier in the field.

Presenters will have 30 minutes to present their work as well as 10 minutes for discussion and Q&A. Longer presentations are intended to allow identifying pressing public policy issues and emerging research themes in environmental, resource and energy economics. The workshop will also provide networking and professional development opportunities for faculty and graduate students who are interested in pursuing research in Latin America energy and environmental economics related issues.

In addition to selected paper presentations there will be two keynote speeches by:

  • Daniel Phaneuf, University of Wisconsin-Madison

  • Jay Shimshack, University of Virginia

OrganizersLopamudra Chakraborti, Pedro Hancevic, David Juárez, and Hector M. Nuñez.
